about

Nat King Cole Plays The Best of Hollywood, Broadway and The Great American Songbook is a 16-track collection of standards from the stage and screen compiled from Resonance's critically acclaimed box set, Hittin’ the Ramp: The Early Years (1936-1943).

Features songs from the movies Broadway Rhythm, The Hollywood Revue, Desperate Chance for Ellery Queen, the stage show Clowns in the Clover and other film and theatrical productions.

This collection demonstrates the wide range of brilliance and song diversity of Nat King Cole’s earliest recordings, and was compiled by author Will Friedwald, whose Cole biography Straighten Up and Fly Right: The Life and Music of Nat King Cole was recently released on Oxford University Press.
